"We thought we had a good plan," said Southers. "Both Gene and Tony Cox had competed as racers, so we had that thought process going on as we looked to change the series. We thought we had all the bases covered."
And how about NASCAR's rush to make their sport more appealing with a playoff format? "Anything they can do to bring more attention to racing is fine by us," said Southers.
"As more and more people become aware of racing, specifically Hooters ProCup racing, either by attending an event or seeing one of our races on SPEED, we're going to keep growing. That's a good thing for us, our racers, and the fans."
