Not Giving UpHere's the race car driven by Kent Morgan of Louisburg, North Carolina. Morgan Racing was started 10 years ago, but Kent remained winless heading into the 2003 season. Kent says he's not giving up, however, because "we love going to the track to compete." He races at quarter-mile dirt tracks, and did manage to finish fifth in points at one track. Keep us posted on how your season goes, Kent. We're hoping you get to take that first victory lap.
78 Is Great!Chuck Bloom, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, drives this No. 78 Chevy at two dirt tracks not far from home. Being a Dodge man, it was a big step to race a Chevy, but Bloom says, "It's worth it." He finished third in points in 2001 and second in 2002 while racing at Interstate 79 Speedway in Shinnston, West Virginia. He also raced at Roaring Knob Raceway Park in Markleysburg, Pennsylvania. Racing Friday and Saturday nights at two tracks all season is a lot of work, but a dedicated pit crew and great sponsors keep the wheels turning. "It's time to kick the tires and light the fires!" Chuck said at the start of the 2003 season.
The GodfatherDave Bentley Sr., of Woodlyn, Pennsylvania, has been racing for 20 years. He builds all of his cars and motors. He has raced in Demo Derbys, Late Models, Enduros, and most recently 4-Cylinders. He has raced at Flemington Speedway, East Windsor Speedway, and Wall Stadium in New Jersey, and Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, Pennsylvania. He has won features in all of the classes he's entered, but 2002 was especially a banner year. At Bridgeport (New Jersey) Speedway, he earned the nickname "The Godfather of 4-Cylinder" as he dominated the class with a total of 15 feature wins. That was good enough to win the Bridgeport 4-Cylinder Championship.
