The sponsors play to what will get them the most exposure. I know there were some sponsors in the early days of racing who said they would rather win the pole than the race. Their theory was if they won the pole on Wednesday, their brand of car would be in the headlines through Sunday morning. If they won the race, the brand would only make headlines on Monday. Well, I guess it's just whatever suits you.
