Making The SwitchTony Stewart has enough to focus on this season, but he can't help looking toward 2003 when he and Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Bobby Labonte will switch from racing Pontiacs to Chevrolets.
Joe Gibbs Racing was the first of what could be several teams announcing plans to switch to new equipment next season.
The move by Joe Gibbs Racing will mark a homecoming of sorts for Gibbs as he returns to the Chevrolet brand he started his Winston Cup operation with in 1992 through 1996.
Stewart sees the change as a way to get on more equal footing with the other brands in Winston Cup.
"I just want what everybody else has," Stewart says. "I don't want to be beat by a rules package. If I'm going to get beat, I want it to be by another driver."
