"They're great people to know," says Hall. "Any time of the day I can call either one of them and ask for advice and they'll give it to me. They're two stand-up guys."
What does this all mean to the average short track racer, young or old, who wants to go places in motorsports?
Not every racer is going to catch the eye, or even develop a friendship, with an Andy Petree or a Brad Daugherty. It helps, nonetheless, to know the right people, whether they move on a national stage or a local one. And given the right attitude, the right location, a measure of talent, and a willingness to work hard, anything is possible. The key is to keep racing, keep progressing, and treat those you encounter with respect.
In the meantime, remember the name Rob Hall.
