I do have one thing that would make it better. Our forum would be perfect if it was an all ford site ! Ha ha lol! Ok now for the threads talking points. I have a million of em’! Seriously why doesn’t NASCAR allow 'stock cars' ie cup cars etc to use rain tires in inclement weather? I haven’t watched an open wheel race in years, so this may nt still be true, however in the past 230 mph Formula etc cars used to don rain skins in bad weather and the race went on! SoI thinik it would be a good idea for NASCAR to do the same. Maybe NASCAR officials or the crew chief would make the call of when and what type tires to use. If cup cars could run in a moderate rain the advantage of not having to stop the race etc would pay all kinds of dividends, one being exciting racing! We all know after the 2013 Daytona race just ran that the beautiful (in appearance) 'new' Gen 6 cars will increase race attendence but I feel the series will need even more tweaks. We could begin with rain tires and something else I feel will help to generate safer faster and more exciting side by side racing. That something else is wider more stickey tires. If NASCAR decrees er' approves such a measure I think that would be a cheap, easy to check, item while increasing saftey and would compensate for the stock appearing carts lack of down force etc. Feel free to comment on either issue, that is rain tires for NASCAR Stock Cars as well as allowing a slightly wider tire to make side by side racing possible. Lastly I would personally li9ke NASCAR officials to consider allowing my fav brand the dog slow fords and only fords to run a supercharger with 18 pounds boost at the long tracks and 12 pounds at short tracks. I've been looking for the longest time and when I try to look for stock car racing, I keep getting NASCAR junk, which is not stock car racing, so I do not know why people think it is or call it that. Is there a place for real stock car racing with a plain old stock vehicle off the road that I can go to an oval track about the size of a NASCAR track and compete against other people with real stock production vehicles off the road? That consists of 4, 6, 8 cylinder classes? What ever happen to REAL stock car racing?! Why did they go to the junk they have today? I want to do a retro 1973 NASCAR Matador. I am not in that area but the car is. I wont be able to pick it up until Spring time and while its sitting there I was hoping a local shop may be able to get some work done on it. It will probably be "streetable" but I want allot of current stock car type elements worked into the breaks and suspension. If anyone knows of a place or a guy who works on stock cars and is looking for some winter work....please let me know. My name is Mark Osborne, and I'm writing in hopes that you will get a copy of my book, "REBEL SPEEDWAY." What's unique and different about my book from other track history books, is the fact that I hand-drew and painted 115 illustrations for the book, which took me about three years to complete. I also have 35 actual photos of the cars and stars of my hometown track in Sumter, South Carolina. My book follows racing from 1957-1976, and I wrote about the NASCAR drivers who raced there like Richard Petty, David Pearson, Ned Jarrett, Junior Johnson, and Timmonsville's own Cale Yarborough, who got his start at the track in Sumter. If you want to read a little about my book, go to Amazon.com and just type in "REBEL SPEEDWAY." THe cover is HOT, and I designed both front and back covers. I am on Facebook, and if you can view every picture there in my REBEL SPEEDWAY photo album. I also have several You Tube videos which show a lot of my paintings for the book, and other work I have done. I also do paintings on commission for drivers, and fans and really enjoy painting the old-timers with their coupes and coaches. Amazon sells my book, but if you go through me, I will send you a personally signed copy, which of course, will up the value. You don't have to be from Sumter, South Carolina, to appreciate the work I did in this book. Chances are, if you grew up breathing in clay dust from those Saturday nights at the races, you'll love reading this 142 page keepsake, and looking at all the cool pics. Every fan, every mechanic and every driver should have a copy of Rebel Speedway in their home, garage, or toolbox! Thanks so much, and GO TO THE RACES!!! Sincerely, Mark Osborne

"REBEL SPEEDWAY," Illustrated Book |
