High Compression Pistons
PROBE Racing Components has introduced the SRS Series, high compression, forged pistons for the 302 small-block Ford and 347 Ford stroker motors. The pistons are available with domes to fit popular combustion chambers including the "Twisted Wedge" and the new TFS "High Port." Dome volumes net 8 to 9 cc for a compression of 11.0:1 on the 302 and 12.5:1 on the 347 motors. Piston compression heights are 1.600 inch for the 302 and 1.090 inch for the 347 stroker motors. Four-Position Starter
TCI's new Racing Starter comes with a mounting plate that allows four unique starter-mounting positions, providing increased clearance for header pipes. The starter provides 40- to 50-percent more cranking power than stock, is 33-percent lighter, has ball bearing construction, and is built for hardcore usage. The starter fits GM applications. Ignition Wire
Moroso Performance Products offers Ultra 40 Race Wire. The ignition wire features 8.65mm diameter and 40 ohms of resistance per foot, and incorporates a spiral-wound nickel/copper alloy conductor. This produces a high level of spark energy while yielding a low level of electromagnetic and radio frequency interference. A Kevlar(r) core allows an increase in tensile strength of the wire, while reducing its center diameter. This in turn allows for an increase in surrounding insulation, resulting in greater dielectric strength. Moroso Performance Products, Dept. SCR01, 80 Carter Dr., Guilford, CT 06437-2116; 203/458-0542; www.moroso.com
Tuner Module
Gale Banks Engineering offers the "Big Hoss" customizable tuner module for Ford Power Stroke and Dodge/Cummins trucks. The module features five levels of calibration: One through four add increasing levels of power and are emissions-legal in 50 states; five adds a top gain of +120 hp and is reserved for non-street high performance. Hydraulic Spring Perches
Hyperco has partnered with Competition Products to develop Hydraulic Spring Perches, which are designed to nearly eliminate the bending loads that coil springs exert on shock absorbers. Each perch is comprised of an annular outer body cylinder and an annular piston/perch sealed to the body with two O-rings. The resulting cavity between the two halves is filled with a hydraulic fluid and sealed with a sealing screw. The assembly allows the end coils of the spring to tilt (up to 4 degrees) as compressive loads are applied, and the hydraulic pressure centralizes the load around the centerline of the shock absorber. Improved Helmet
G-Force has introduced its Pro-Force Air Helmet designed to get more fresh air to the driver. The helmet was designed by G-Force and Fresh Air System Technologies. The helmet includes a "Speedfit" visor that allows removal and replacement of the visor without the need for tools. Extra features include removable breath deflector and a hypoallergenic fire retardant interior. The helmet meets Snell, SFI, and DOT standards. Align Boring Machine
Kansas Instruments offers the BT6, a machine for align boring OHC cylinder heads and cylinder blocks. The BT6 can handle blocks and heads up to 32 inches in length, with bores as small as 0.905 inches in diameter. The machine features six spindle speeds and a variable feed rate, making stock removal and surface finish easy to control. Set up indicators provide the precise location of the cam or crank bore.
