Distributor Installation - Don't Just Drop It In

The reluctor is a two-part unit. One part is mounted to the shaft while the other is bolted down above the pickup coil. Both have eight teeth (in an eight-cylinder engine). When these teeth align, this is a signal to the pickup coil to fire a spark. Alignment of the teeth on the reluctor is important. It is neces-sary to place the switching point to fire at the same time as the rotor points to a terminal. View Related Article
