It is necessary to double check that the burette is filled to the zero point. You can use a variety of liquids, including alcohol with food coloring so that it is easier to see. With the burette placed over the head and the hole lined up, you can start the chamber-filling process. Take your time and don't spill fluid outside the fill hole. Remember that you are using the fluid to measure the volume in the chamber, and accuracy is critical.

Once the chamber is filled you may need to shift the head around a bit to remove any air trapped near the fill hole. Take your time. Once you get the air out, make any necessary adjustments to the fluid level.

Once the chamber is filled, check the burette to determine how much fluid was required to fill the chamber. The next step is to remove the plate and remove the fluid. If you are careful and empty the fluid into a clean container, you can reuse it. Once all the liquid is removed and the head is wiped clean, you can move on to the next chamber and repeat the process.
