This month's Young Racers' Club winner comes to us from Walnut Cove, North Carolina. Matthew Duggins races a front-wheel drive U-Car at New 311 Speedway, the north central North Carolina 1/2-mile high-banked clay oval bullring that bills itself as the Daytona of Dirt. That's the same track frequented by guys like Steve Blackburn, Larry Blankenship, Ty Dillon, and Justin Labonte.
Seventeen-year-old Matthew made his racing debut in 2006 at the age of 15 behind the wheel of a U-Car. In 2007, the teenager's first full season of racing at New 311, he brought his U-Car home to finish Fifth in points. It shouldn't be too big of a surprise that the teen wound up racing. His father, Todd, also races at New 311 in the Crate Late Model class. Both father and son run the No. 99 in their respective divisions. While Matthew is doing well in the U-Car, he definitely has his sights on moving up. He hopes to one day strap into his dad's Crate Late Model.
Well Matthew, in the meantime we know that gas is getting pretty pricey, but we bet this $250 gift certificate from Sunoco will definitely help keep that U-Car on the track!
